This is a Website Accessibility Statement about Nottinghamshire Area Prescribing Committee(NottsAPC) webpage.

Using this website

This website is run by NottsAPC. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is?

We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:

  • You can't modify the line height or spacing of text
  • Most older PDF documents aren’t fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Videos of meetings use automatic captioning which can include inaccuracies.
  • Most videos have no subtitles.
  • Contracts between text and background for some elements in PDFs can be improved for increased readability

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Notts Health Informatics Service is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Issues with technology

It’s not possible for users to modify text spacing or line height. This is built in the software and we can explore updating with the next maintenance work on the website.

We’ve assessed the benefit and impact  of fixing these issues and believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment when we next do a major redevelopment of the website.

The vast majority of our website works correctly on any web technology. For security reasons, we only support TLS 1.2 and higher security protocols, and this means that some older browsers will not show the site. 

How our site looks and works is based on HTML5, and we test for and support the following browsers:

You may experience unexpected behaviour in other browsers, although we use fully validates code which should work on any modern (HTML5) browser.

Internet Explorer is no longer supported. 

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB no longer support Internet Explorer, as this browser is now at the end of its lifecycle. 

Issues with PDFs and other documents

Many of our older PDFs and Word documents don’t meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be marked up so they’re accessible to a screen reader.

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Where we do create new PDFs, we run accessibility checks and aim to make them accessible. Our site contains a large number of PDFs created in previous years.

Where these are no longer being updated, we do not intend to recreate them in accessible versions as this would be a disproportionate burden. The accessibility regulations don't require us to fix PDF's or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services. 

Issues with links

We are aware of the following issues with the links on our site:

  • some link text doesn't make sense when read on its own (for example 'click here'), we will correct these as we identify them. 
  • on some pages there are multiple links with the same link text but different destinations on one page. 
  • many older PDF files contain broken links which do not resolve - we do not intend to resolve these as it is a disproportionate burden for files which are no longer in active use.

To maintain a high standard of accessibility for new content, and improve existing content we regularly:

  • review specific aspects of our site's accessibility and usability,
  • conduct automatic and manual accessibility checks across the site,
  • correct errors or implement improvements and
  • cascade best practice approaches to content editors.
